As Baab slowly turned around, Joey reached into his pocket for the burned strand of fabric that had seemed so familiar to him when he had picked it up in the bathroom at Chuckles Unlimited. He could now identify it as Baab's funky ribbon that she always wore. He laid it out on his palm along with the happy-face pin, which Joey believed to be Baab's, as well.
Joey avoided looking into Baab's tear-soaked eyes while she examined the damning evidence before her. Finally, she sighed and said, "Joey, there's something I need to tell you."
Baab took a deep breath and started her confession. "Joey – I…I started the fire at Chuckles Unlimited. I don't know what got into me…maybe it was because I've just felt so bitter about being fired from Chuckles Unlimited after more than 10 years of loyal service; it was such a shock and Ted didn't even give me a reason."
